Solomon Sserwanjja wins the BBC World News Komla Dumor award. Second Ugandan after Nancy Kacungira.

Ugandan Journalist Solomon Sserwanja currently an employee at NBS Tv is this year’s winner of the BBC Komla Dumor Award.

Solomon got to know about the news following a Skype call from BBC and couldn’t hide excitement. “Oh my God. I’m so honored. I was standing on this yard and i just stood still. I froze”, he told the BBC

Solomon is a well-known journalist and his passion for investigative journalism highlighted his desire to make positive change in his native Uganda.

He is the fifth winner of the award, following in the footsteps of Waihiga Mwaura, Amina Yuguda, Didi Akinyelure and fellow Ugandan Nancy Kacungira.

As part of the prize, he will spend three months at the BBC in London and travel back to the continent to report on a story there.
